CLIENT: Ten Chimneys Foundation - The estate of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne
Seventy-five years ago, the most revered acting team in American theatre, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, conjured up a haven called Ten Chimneys. It's an idyllic retreat that inspired the country's finest actors and artists.
We worked with the client's branding partner, Planet Propaganda, to create a map that captures the detail and grandeur of the estate for a visitor brochure.

RECOGNITION: American Association of Museums: Publications Design Competition: This map illustrated the The Tour of a Lifetime brochure designed by Planet Propaganda. This was a 2004 second place winner in supplementary materials, a category for booklets, brochures and maps.
CLIENT FEEDBACK: "It's hard to capture Ten Chimneys estate. Many of the buildings are modest and they are arranged a little "catawampus" - and the true magic of the place is in its stories. We needed to show guests a general idea of the layout without the image feeling too institutional or "map-ee." Funnel spent an impressive amount of creative energy on the building details, placement, coloring, and, most importantly, conveying the stories-behind-the-stuff. Originally intended for use only in our tour companion booklet, the drawing of the estate is now used throughout our materials. Thanks, Funnel!"
